Retrofitting for Buses & Coaches: the solution for clean and economical transport

RETROFLEET, a pioneer in heavy vehicle retrofitting, offers a dedicated solution for coaches and vehicles over 3,5 tonnes. Our goal is to provide transport operators with reliable and cost-effective electric conversion solutions, extending the lifespan of their vehicles while reducing their carbon footprint. Given the market, we have chosen to initially focus on the passenger transport segment. However, a range for freight transport is currently under development and will benefit from the experience gained with our coach range.

An ecological and economical solution for coaches

Heavy-duty vehicles, such as coaches, are essential for intercity and tourist mobility. However, their CO2 emissions make them priority targets for decarbonization. With our retrofit technology, we convert these vehicles to electric, offering a sustainable alternative to public transport fleets and tourist transport companies. This solution guarantees a reduction of nearly 87% in CO2 emissions and provides substantial savings in total cost of ownership (TCO).

 

Advanced technology for optimal performance

RETROFLEET conversion kits include a highly durable electric drivetrain (40 years of maintenance-free life in school use) adapted to the requirements of heavy-duty vehicles, 192 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries, and advanced electronic management to supervise all auxiliary vehicle functions. Our batteries, designed to last, are fully recyclable, thus contributing to a sustainable life cycle.

Fast and standards-compliant conversion process

Coach conversions are carried out in several stages, including the complete disassembly of the diesel powertrain, installation of the electric conversion kit, and end-of-production testing. Within three weeks, the vehicle is ready to return to the road, compliant with the most demanding safety and quality standards, on the same regulatory basis as those followed by traditional manufacturers. Our kits are approved for series production in accordance with the 2020 Retrofit decree, ensuring optimal safety and compliance with manufacturer standards.
